September - Perseverance

IMS S.T.E.A.M. students were challenged with designing and building the strongest popsicle stick bridge.  First, students learned about linear perspective drawings from Coach Garrison.  This helped teams to draw the bridge design that they wanted to test and then build with popsicle sticks.  Teams then explored with building blocks to test different bridge designs.  Finally, teams built bridges out of popsicle sticks, glue, and string.  5-gallon buckets were hung from the center of the bridges and 1-pound scoops of rocks were added until the bridges broke.  The winning bridge held 106 pounds!!!

What a great example of perseverance in the classroom!
